Breaking: On3 4-star CB Jaziel Hart commits to Penn State: ‘The place and the people fit me’

Penn State football has landed another high-impact player for its 2025 recruiting class, as four-star cornerback Jaziel Hart has officially announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions. The talented defensive back, ranked as one of the top prospects at his position by On3, confirmed his decision on Monday, sharing heartfelt reasons behind the move: “The place and the people fit me.”

Hart, who had garnered offers from several powerhouse programs including Michigan, Alabama, and Florida State, made his announcement following an official visit to Happy Valley. According to the Florida native, the connection he felt during his trip sealed the deal.

“It’s more than football for me,” Hart said. “Penn State just felt different. The energy, the coaches, the players—they made me feel like I belonged. It’s a family environment, and that’s what I was looking for.”

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete is known for his speed, physicality, and instincts in coverage. At his high school in Fort Lauderdale, Hart has been a standout since his sophomore year, locking down top receivers and showcasing a maturity well beyond his age. On3 ranks him among the top 20 cornerbacks in the nation and top 200 overall prospects.

Penn State defensive backs coach Terry Smith played a key role in Hart’s recruitment, building a strong relationship with the young defender and his family. Hart praised Smith and head coach James Franklin for their honesty, passion, and long-term vision for his development both on and off the field.

“Coach Franklin told me I’m not just a player to them—I’m a person,” Hart said. “That stuck with me. He’s building something special at Penn State, and I want to be a part of it.”

Hart’s commitment adds further strength to Penn State’s already impressive 2025 recruiting class. With a strong pipeline of talent coming in across both sides of the ball, the Nittany Lions continue to position themselves as a major contender in the Big Ten and on the national stage.

In Hart, Penn State is gaining a player with immediate upside. Analysts describe him as a plug-and-play defender who could compete for early snaps thanks to his high football IQ and natural athleticism. He’s particularly effective in man coverage and brings a level of toughness that fits Penn State’s defensive identity.

Off the field, Hart emphasized the importance of education, culture, and community in his decision-making process. He cited Penn State’s academic reputation and tight-knit campus life as major factors.

“My parents always told me to look at the full picture,” Hart explained. “Penn State checks every box—from the coaches to the facilities to the support system they have for players. I feel like I can grow here as a man.”

With his commitment now public, Hart plans to help recruit other top prospects to join him in Happy Valley. His decision marks a major win for Penn State’s staff and signals continued momentum on the recruiting trail.
