Ipswich Town: Freddie Sears leaves Chatham after one season

Former Ipswich Town forward Freddie Sears has departed Chatham Town after he was unable to commit to another season.

The now 35-year-old moved to the Isthmian Premier Division side last summer after spells with Dagenham & Redbridge and Braintree Town in 2023/24.

Sears bagged 24 goals for Kevin Hake’s side, including two hat-tricks against Cray Wanderers and Wingate & Finchley, but the Chats missed out on the play-offs.

On leaving the Kent side, Sears said: “Just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff, players and fans for all your support this season.

“I really have loved my time at the club and your support home and away has been great – never did I expect to meet so many fans and it’s been great meeting you all.

“I’m gutted we couldn’t achieve what we all wanted from the start of the season.”
