Just today: Penn State signs 26 prospects on early National Signing Day

The Nittany Lions have officially secured a major haul. On early National Signing Day, **Penn State signed 26 prospects**, solidifying a 2025 recruiting class that reflects both depth and strategic precision from head coach James Franklin and his staff.

From top-tier skill position players to elite linemen and defensive backs, this year’s class highlights Penn State’s commitment to remaining competitive on the national stage — especially as Big Ten expansion and the College Football Playoff race heat up.

“This is one of the most balanced and promising classes we’ve brought in,” Franklin said during his press conference following the flurry of signings. “Our staff did a phenomenal job identifying talent early and building genuine relationships with these student-athletes and their families.”

The class, which ranks among the top 10 nationally according to multiple recruiting services, features a blend of in-state standouts and out-of-region stars. One of the crown jewels of the group is **five-star defensive end Malik Jefferson** out of Georgia, a disruptive force who drew offers from SEC powerhouses before committing to the Nittany Lions.

Also headlining the class is **quarterback Jaylen Davis**, a dual-threat passer from Florida who impressed coaches with his mobility, poise, and football IQ. Davis is expected to compete early for a spot in the quarterback room, especially as Penn State looks to build future depth behind its current starter.

The 26 signees reflect more than just athletic ability — Franklin emphasized the importance of recruiting character, academics, and leadership potential. “These aren’t just football players. These are young men who fit the Penn State culture — they’re hungry to succeed on and off the field.”

Other key additions include:

* **Tyrone Greene**, a four-star offensive tackle from Maryland, known for his size and agility.

* **Cameron Wells**, a rangy safety from Texas with elite closing speed.

* **Noah Mitchell**, a wide receiver from New Jersey who broke his high school’s all-time receiving record.

What stands out about this class is its positional balance. Franklin and his staff addressed immediate needs — particularly along both lines of scrimmage — while also stockpiling future talent in the secondary and wide receiver corps.

The early signing period has become increasingly important in college football, and Penn State wasted no time capitalizing on it. Nearly all of the 26 commitments had already given verbal pledges prior to December, which speaks volumes about the program’s ability to maintain stability and avoid late-stage surprises.

“This is a group that’s been all in with us for a long time,” Franklin noted. “And now that it’s official, we can’t wait to get them on campus, get them developed, and let them compete.”
