Derby County Receive Clear Transfer Signal from Blackburn Rovers Amid Lewis Travis Links

As the summer transfer window begins to heat up, Derby County have reportedly been sent a strong message from Blackburn Rovers regarding their interest in long-serving midfielder Lewis Travis. The Rams, newly promoted to the Championship, are believed to be monitoring the experienced captain as they look to bolster their squad ahead of a demanding campaign.

Travis, 26, has been with Blackburn since his youth and has racked up over 200 appearances for the club, earning a reputation as a no-nonsense, hard-working presence in midfield. However, with growing speculation over his future at Ewood Park, Derby have emerged as a potential suitor — and Blackburn’s response has not gone unnoticed.

According to sources close to the club, Rovers are open to discussions but have made it clear that Travis will not be allowed to leave cheaply. The midfielder still has time left on his current contract, and Blackburn see him as a valuable asset — both on and off the pitch.

A statement from a club insider suggests that while Blackburn are aware of interest from multiple Championship clubs, including Derby, they are only willing to part with Travis if the deal is right.

> “Lewis is a key figure in the dressing room. If a move happens, it won’t be rushed. It has to be a fair reflection of his quality and leadership.”

Derby County boss Paul Warne is known to be an admirer of Travis and is looking to inject Championship experience into his squad following promotion from League One. The Rams have a solid core of young talent but are lacking in seasoned leaders — and Travis, who wore the armband at Blackburn for much of last season, fits the bill.

Warne has remained tight-lipped when asked about transfer targets, but when pressed on midfield reinforcements, he acknowledged the need for “proven performers who know the level.” That has only added fuel to the Travis rumours.

While Derby fans are excited about the prospect, the deal remains in its early stages. Negotiations could be drawn out, particularly if Blackburn insist on a transfer fee that reflects Travis’s pivotal role in their squad. However, the player’s situation has become increasingly interesting, especially after he was left out of several matchday squads toward the end of last season — sparking questions about his long-term future at Ewood Park.

Some believe that Travis may be open to a fresh challenge, especially if he feels he’s no longer central to Blackburn’s plans under manager John Eustace. Derby, with momentum behind them and a clear vision for the Championship, could offer the kind of project that appeals to a player entering the peak years of his career.

For now, Derby County have been made aware that if they want Travis, they will need to make a compelling offer. Whether that’s financially or through convincing the player of their ambition remains to be seen — but the message from Blackburn is loud and clear: Lewis Travis won’t be leaving without a fight.
