𝑩𝑹𝑬𝑨𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑮: Texas Tech Star Quarterback Behren Morton Pledges Entire \$20 Million Signing Bonus and Sponsorship Earnings to Homeless Charities

In a stunning act of generosity that has captured national attention, Texas Tech’s standout quarterback Behren Morton has pledged to donate the entirety of his \$20 million signing bonus and endorsement earnings to charities dedicated to supporting the homeless.

The announcement came during a press conference on Monday, where Morton, 22, addressed a room filled with media, teammates, and local advocates. “This is something I’ve thought about for a long time,” Morton said. “There are too many people out there without homes, without food, without safety. If I can use my platform and blessings to make even a small impact, then I have to.”

Morton, who recently signed a landmark NIL deal that included both sponsorships and a substantial signing bonus, made it clear that his decision was personal. “I’ve seen the effects of poverty firsthand growing up. I’ve walked past people in the cold with nowhere to sleep and nothing to eat. It doesn’t sit right with me to enjoy millions while so many are suffering.”

According to his team, the entire \$20 million will be distributed across a variety of nonprofit organizations that focus on homelessness prevention, shelter access, youth housing support, and veteran assistance. Among the primary beneficiaries are national groups like Feeding America, Covenant House, and the National Alliance to End Homelessness, as well as Texas-based shelters and outreach programs in Lubbock and surrounding communities.

Morton’s action is being praised widely across social media and by public figures, with many calling him an example of how college athletes can redefine what leadership looks like in the NIL era.

Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire was quick to applaud his quarterback. “Behren is the heart of this team, not just because of his play on the field, but because of who he is as a man,” McGuire said. “He’s always been about more than football. Today proves that more than ever.”

This donation sets a new precedent for college athletes, especially in a time where NIL agreements have become central to the financial lives of top collegiate stars. Morton is believed to be one of the first athletes to commit such a massive portion of his NIL earnings to philanthropy.

While the Red Raiders continue their preparations for the upcoming season with Morton leading the charge at quarterback, his actions off the field are already making a championship-level impact.

In his closing remarks, Morton emphasized that this is only the beginning. “I don’t just want to donate money — I want to be involved. I want to volunteer. I want to help shape solutions. This is not about headlines, it’s about helping people get back on their feet.”

With this bold and compassionate move, Behren Morton has shown that true greatness isn’t just measured by touchdowns or trophies, but by the willingness to serve others — especially those with no voice and no home.
