Netflix to Release Tribute Documentary Honoring Legendary Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden on June 29th, 2025

A highly anticipated Netflix documentary paying tribute to the late, great Bobby Bowden—one of college football’s most iconic and beloved coaches—is scheduled to premiere on June 29th, 2025. The film will honor Bowden’s incredible life, legacy, and the lasting impact he had on generations of Florida State Seminoles players, fans, and the sport itself.

Titled *“Bowden: Faith, Family, and Football,”* the documentary promises an emotional, in-depth look at the legendary coach’s rise from humble beginnings to becoming one of the winningest coaches in college football history. It will include never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews with former players, coaching staff, friends, and family members, as well as commentary from fellow football greats.

Bowden, who passed away in August 2021 at the age of 91, spent over three decades at the helm of the Florida State football program. During his tenure from 1976 to 2009, he led the Seminoles to two national championships, 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles, and 14 consecutive top-five finishes—an unmatched streak of consistency and dominance in the modern era.

Netflix’s decision to release the documentary on June 29th is no coincidence. That date falls just days before what would have been Bowden’s 95th birthday—a fitting tribute to a man known as much for his wisdom and leadership off the field as for his success on it.

Producers behind the documentary have promised a heartfelt narrative that goes beyond wins and losses. “We wanted to show the man behind the headset,” said executive producer Jenna Michaels. “Yes, Bobby Bowden was a phenomenal coach. But he was also a mentor, a man of deep faith, and someone who left a mark on everyone he encountered. This documentary is about preserving that spirit.”

Among the key voices featured in the film are former Seminoles stars such as Deion Sanders, Charlie Ward, Derrick Brooks, and Warrick Dunn—all of whom credit Bowden with shaping their lives far beyond football. Viewers can also expect emotional moments from Bowden’s family, who open up about the sacrifices and values that defined his personal life.

Fans of the sport, especially those who witnessed Bowden’s golden era at Florida State, are eagerly awaiting the release. Social media has already begun buzzing with excitement, with alumni and college football analysts praising the documentary as long overdue.

Florida State University also plans to honor the film’s release with a special campus screening and tribute event on the same weekend, inviting fans, students, and former players to celebrate the coach who put Tallahassee on the map.

In a landscape where college football stories often focus on controversy or rivalry, this documentary aims to remind viewers of the power of character, humility, and legacy. Bobby Bowden may be gone, but his influence lives on—and starting June 29th, the world will once again have a chance to witness the journey of a true legend.
