GREAT:Raiders Re-Sign Savelio Tamale

The Canberra Raiders have continued their push to retain their squad for the future, with Savelio Tamale re-signing with the club for a further two seasons, keeping him in green until the end of the 2028 season.
Tamale was already contracted to the Green Machine until the end of 2026, but an impressive start to his time in Canberra has seen him rewarded with a contract extension.
In his 14 appearances so far this year, Tamale has scored six tries and averaged over 150 running metres per game, with 15 line breaks this season.
Tamale said the decision to re-sign was an easy one and that he felt like he belonged in Canberra, playing footy with the Raiders.
“The club has been unreal since the first day I got here, it really does feel like home now,” Tamale said. “It didn’t take long for it to feel like home because of all the people around me, all the staff, all the players, all the coaching staff, everyone’s been really welcoming. That’s a massive thing to me and I love the club for that.”
It’s been a huge first season in green for Tamale, after making his debut for the club in Las Vegas, and he said the current playing group and the history of the club is something he’s proud to be a part of.
“It’s been unreal, since Round 1 playing in Vegas that’s a big stage, that whole week was a great experience, and to have the success we’ve had to start the season is something I’ve been proud to be a part of,” he said. “The people around me have helped so much, everyone is so genuine, and I love playing footy for this club. With all the great players before me, it inspires me to be just like them and hopefully I can achieve what they have one day.”
Raiders Head Coach Ricky Stuart said he’s been impressed not only by Tamale’s performances but also his work ethic, and believes the best is still yet to come from the talented outside back.
Savelio has had a wonderful start to his career as a Raider and has shown us in his short time with the club what a talented and committed young man he is,” Stuart said. “We look forward to seeing Sav continue his development with us and continue to grow with the squad that we have locked in for the future
