SHOCKING ESPN REPORT: Raiders could address wide receiver need by adding disgruntled 49ers playmaker

The Las Vegas Raiders could still be hunting for another viable receiving threat to pair with superstar tight end Brock Bowers and veteran wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, and a potential target may have just hit the market.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is unhappy with his current contract and either wants a new deal or a trade out of the Bay Area.
Jennings signed a two-year extension worth $15.39 million with the 49ers last offseason.
“Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade, per sources. 49ers extended Jennings’ deal last year, but that does not change how Jennings feels about this year,” Schefter wrote on X.
With Jennings possibly on the trade market, CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin believes the Raiders should try to make a move for the 28-year-old receiver.
“It’s not hard to envision offensive coordinator Chip Kelly finding different ways to deploy Jennings, who could give [Geno] Smith another proven safety valve through the air,” Benjamin wrote.
Jennings is coming off a career year in 2024, as the Tennessee product posted career highs in receptions (77), yards (975), and touchdowns (6). The 2020 seventh-round pick has developed into a solid contributor in Kyle Shanahan’s offense and is only getting better.
Las Vegas should look to trade for Jennings, as he would give quarterback Geno Smith another capable pass-catching option. Adding Jennings would take some pressure off rookie receivers Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton and give them more time to develop.
Trading for Jennings shouldn’t cost more than an early Day 3 pick. The Raiders also have the cap space to give him a pay raise, so general manager John Spytek should consider making this move with San Francisco.
