Ex-Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell has inked a rookie deal with the Colts.

Adonai Mitchell, a former Texas Longhorns wide receiver, has inked a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

In AUSTIN, Adonai Mitchell has now formally entered into an agreement with the NFL. The Indianapolis Colts announced on Thursday that the former Texas Longhorns receiver has signed his rookie contract, becoming the last Colts draft pick to do so.

Despite performing well at the combine and being projected as a first-round pick, Mitchell experienced a significant drop in the draft before being chosen by the Colts in the second round at pick No. 52 overall. This clearly didn’t sit well with him.

“Right now, the only thing I’m feeling is I’m just kinda pissed,” Mitchell expressed after being drafted, according to Fox 59 Indianapolis. “I don’t really know what other way to call it.”

During his college career, Mitchell amassed 93 catches for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a two-time national champion with Georgia, he participated in five College Football Playoff games, scoring a touchdown in each one. Mitchell had a standout season at Texas this year, recording 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns, all career-high figures.

Mitchell was among the 11 Longhorns invited to this year’s NFL Combine following a memorable season. Dubbed “Mo City Mitch,” he played a pivotal role, delivering in crucial moments and quickly becoming one of the key figures of the 2023 team despite his short tenure in Austin.

The Indianapolis Colts will open their preseason at home against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Aug. 11, providing both Texas fans and Colts supporters with the opportunity to witness Mitchell’s NFL debut.

In Week 1 of the regular season, Mitchell will make his debut in his hometown as the Colts face the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 8.
